EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KFSM) — A Fort Smith man was killed late Monday night (Oct. 17) after he accidentally stepped into the path of oncoming traffic after he was ejected from an Illinois bar.
Willie G. Shores, 44, was removed from the Champion Sports Bar and Grill in Edwardsville, Illinois, shortly before 10:45 p.m., according to a press release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois.
After Shores was removed from the bar, he turned around to face the building as he stepped into oncoming traffic, the release states. He was struck by an SUV and pronounced dead shortly afterward.
The coroner ruled he died from injuries to his head and chest.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
