Bacon Causes Migraines

HEALTHWATCH - Could bacon be causing migraines? Researchers from UC San Diego say nitrates found in bacon, sausage, and other processed meats might increase the risk of a migraine headache.


They found increased levels of a certain bacteria in people who regularly suffer from migraines. That bacteria converts nitrates into nitric oxide, a chemical known to help trigger migraines. Luckily, there are versions of bacon and other meats available at markets that have no added nitrates.
