FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Some say a picture is worth a thousand words, but in this case it's worth much more, as the proceeds for Family Foto Fest, which is happening Saturday (Oct. 29) and Sunday (Oct. 30), will be going toward Family Network.

Family Network works with low income, first-time parents in their homes by providing parent education and support services.

Families who sign up for a Family Foto Fest session get about 20 minutes with a photographer at Mount Sequoyah or the urban streets of Downtown  Rogers. The cost of the session is $150 and includes a CD of all of the pictures taken.

If you'd like to help with the cause, but don't want pictures, the donation of $150 will go towards a family in the program getting their photos taken. Event organizer, Jennifer McCool, said some people have already taken advantage of it.

"We have five families that got free portraits," McCool said. "It's pretty special because there are actually articles written that prove having your portrait taken with your family increases your feeling of belonging. It makes you feel important and loved because you have this portrait and we don't do that anymore."

This feeling of belonging helps reduce neglect, abuse and abandonment.
