FRANKLIN COUNTY (KFSM) -- The inmates at the Franklin County Jail are growing and selling vegetables to raise money for body cameras for eight deputies at the sheriff's office.

Right now, the inmates are harvesting purple hull peas grown in the sheriff's office garden in Ozark, but they have been growing and harvesting different vegetables all year round.

Each body camera costs $350, so Sheriff Anthony Boen said the sheriff's office has been getting creative in finding ways to come up with the money.

"There's a lot of equipment I would like to purchase for the guys to help with our department, so they're safe," Boen said. "[The body cams] hold everyone accountable and I think it would be great for our guys to have them."

The vegetables are being sold out of the sheriff's office. They are $20 a bushel.
