ROGERS (KFSM) -- The City of Rogers showed off more than a year of renovations at Lake Atalanta during a grand opening ceremony Saturday (Oct. 29).

For many, Lake Atalanta has been a staple in the community for generations and residents could not wait to get back in the park.

"We came to see the new renovations and I think it is just marvelous," Sandra Danehower said. "We got a great area to live in and this is going to be a great location."

Mayor Greg Hines sought out private sponsors, like the Walton Family Foundation, to raise money for the renovations.

"We entered into a partnership agreement with the Walton Family Foundation on a dollar-for-dollar match with public funds and private funds," Hines said. "Because of that infusion of money we were able to double the land mass of Lake Atalanta."

The park includes six fishing piers, a natural splash pad for kids and a tree house.
