ARKANSAS (KFSM) — A new Facebook tool will be helping people learn more about local candidates and issues.

On Friday (Oct. 28) Facebook launched a ballot explainer that shows precisely what candidates and issues will be on the ballot for each person, based on where they live.

Facebook shows state elections first, followed by local elections if a person chooses to enter their street address. People can fill in the mock ballot, and then email themselves the results as a guide for when they vote in the real election.

Facebook users can favorite individual candidates or learn more about the candidates’ stances on major policy issues. ¬†The favorite option is private, but can be made visible to a user’s Facebook friends, allowing them to see which friends have favorited a certain candidate.

Additionally users can see a summary of each ballot issue and mark whether they are for or against each.

Facebook is also offering users the option of publicly endorsing a candidate for an office.
