Sebastian County Chief Deputy: One Arrested, One Person In Hospital After Shooting

SEBASTIAN COUNTY (KFSM) — The Sebastian County Sheriff’s office has arrested one individual and another is in the hospital after a shooting on Sunday (Oct. 30) along Highway 253.

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s office was notified of a victim at a local hospital that had been shot in the head. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 53-year-old suspect Anthony Kelly.

Kelly was arrested on his property in the 4700 block of Highway 253 South around 2:30 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 31). A shotgun, a handgun and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the scene.

Kelly was charged with petition to revoke a suspended sentence, first-degree battery and possession of firearms by certain persons. He was also charged on Tuesday with maintaining premises for drug sales and possession of drug paraphernalia with to intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

The shooting occurred next to the home where Sebastian County deputy Bill Cooper was fatally shot by suspect Billy Jones in August.

The scene is still under investigation. The victim remains in the hospital in critical condition.
