FORT SMITH (KFSM) — The Fort Smith Police Department is searching for a suspect after a Fort Smith man was stabbed on Tuesday (Nov. 1).

Police said they are searching for Dale Fitzgerald in connection to the second degree battery investigation.

A Fort Smith man was taken to the emergency room around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a large gash on his arm, officers said.  He told police that he was partying with two friends at a house on N. 45th Street, when one of the friend’s boyfriend, identified as Fitzgerald, showed up.

The man said Fitzgerald pulled out a knife attacked him after accusing him and another friend of having an inappropriate relationship with Fitzgerald’s girlfriend, police said. The man said he then pulled out his own knife to defend himself, and then Fitzgerald calmed down and left.
