JOHNSON COUNTY (KFSM) — More than a thousand Johnson County residents were without power on Thursday (Nov. 3) after a thief broke into an Arkansas Valley Electric substation.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the electric company’s substation in the Flat Rock area early Thursday morning, according to a Facebook post. Apparently a thief broke into the substation and caused extensive damages, which caused massive outage.

Arkansas Valley Electric employees estimated that 1,600 residents were left without power.

The thief fled the scene before deputies arrived, and left with some of the substation’s property.
