5.0 Earthquake Is Felt In Arkansas And Several Other States

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — A preliminary magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck about two miles from Cushing, Oklahoma at 7:44 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 6), according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

It was felt in multiple states.

Calls reporting the quake being felt in Arkansas came into the newsroom from several people beginning a minute later, at 7:45 p.m.

Amanda and Jason Bayley, who live on the outskirts of West Fork in Arkansas, were enjoying some television viewing when the shaking began.

“Our 17-year-old son felt nothing,” said Amanda, “but for me, it was like a shaking machine.”

She said this quake was more intrusive than the early morning Saturday one that struck earlier this year on Sept. 3rd.

The U.S.G.S confirmed the September earthquake as a 5.6 magnitude earthquake, and it happened 8.7 miles Northwest of Pawnee, Oklahoma.

It was followed by multiple aftershocks.

A 4.5 magnitude earthquake was also confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey near Pawnee, Oklahoma on November 1st.
