CAVE SPRINGS (KFSM) — Cave Springs hired a new police chief, according to an announcement Sunday (Nov. 6) by Mayor Travis Lee.

Greenwood Police Lt. Nicholas Driscoll will take on the new position and is set to meet with the Cave Springs Police Department Monday evening (Nov. 7).

Driscoll has been with Greenwood police since 2001 where he is the Investigations Commander and works all major cases, according to Lee. He also oversaw the School Resource Officer Program, Bike Unit and Training Division.

He has served as a member of the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force for over two years and has attended law enforcement administrative courses including the FBI National Academy. In 2008, his peers selected him as “Officer of the Year.”

Right now, no official start date for Driscoll has been announced.

The previous police chief, Joe Powell, was terminated in August 2016 after he was accused of tampering with police records.
