HEALTHWATCH - Federal health officials are now set to start testing a Zika virus vaccine on humans.

The vaccine is called the Zika Purified Inactivated Virus. The first clinical trial will focus on the vaccine’s ability to generate an immune system response, and to test its safety. Researchers are now looking to enroll seventy-five 18 year olds and forty 9 year olds who have had no prior exposure to Zika or other viruses like yellow fever and West Nile.
