Women & Infant Center Opens At Washington Regional Medical Center

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — The Women and Infant Center at Washington Regional Medical Center, which boasts state-of-the-art care for patients and families, opened Monday.

The five-story, 132,800-square-foot patient tower is designed to cater to a plethora of needs. It houses 28 patient rooms, six of which are antepartum rooms with monitoring capabilities for extended-stay patients and have monitors and infant warmers.

Also, there are 17 rooms for labor and delivery, and also the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Northwest Arkansas complete with 34 beds.

A state-of-the-art pharmacy and milk lab are also housed in the patient tower. The milk lab is designed to provide specialized nutritional needs and care for newborns in a sterile preparation space while in the NICU.

HerHealth Women’s Clinic and Parkhill Clinic for Women are also housed in the patient tower.

Additional new features inside the new tower include education and exam rooms, family areas, a sandwich counter, Angel Eye cameras to allow families to easily view their baby while away and exam rooms for pediatric procedures and gynecological exams, to name a few.

On top of the building is a new helipad… the second helipad at the hospital.

There’s also a parent lounge that provides lockers, showers and sleep chairs, and there are also rooms large enough to accommodate families that have twins or multiple babies.

A Ronald McDonald House on the top floor of the tower is expected to open sometime during December 2016.
