Both in Arkansas and across the country the tornado count is lower than average as we head towards the end of 2016.

In the United States, this year ranks below the average of 1,402 but nowhere near the record year of 2011.

In Arkansas, we average around 33 tornadoes; this year we’ve had 24.

This week, a cold front will arrive on Friday morning with a chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Rainfall totals will be light as this system quickly moves across Arkansas and Oklahoma early on Friday. The best rain chances should be before Noon with blustery north winds behind the front.
