HEALTHWATCH - Health officials say the Zika virus outbreak is no longer an international public health emergency.

This does not mean Zika isn’t a problem, but on a global level the spread of Zika is under control. Zika is most commonly spread through infected mosquitoes and can cause birth defects in unborn children. The World Health Organization says it will now create a technical committee to handle Zika research and efforts going forward.
