ARKANSAS (KFSM) – The day before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest travel days of the year.
Jim Lewis drove to Springdale from Ponca City, Oklahoma to spend Thanksgiving with his daughter and grandkids.
“I usually come down here on Thanksgiving and it's kind of a yearly thing for me,” Lewis said.
Lewis said he didn't run into any traffic problems until he got into Arkansas.
“It misted about all the way, I had to put the windshield wipers on interment on most of the way, but it's getting a lot colder from what it was when I left,” Lewis said.
Luster Baker started his Thanksgiving trip early this morning from Shreveport, Louisiana and was just stopping in the area on his way to Kansas City.
'The roads be kind of slow, we saw a couple of accidents, you know a couple of trucks turned over and cars. So y'all be careful,” Baker said.
Michael Morris is heading in the other direction to southern Arkansas to visit family and said it's a change from his usual Thanksgiving plans.
'There may be some traffic but you just take your time and just get into a routine and you cover it pretty quickly,” Morris said.
The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department has a website and app that shows exactly where you can expect construction anywhere in the state.

A survey conducted by TripAdvisor says 62 percent of people traveling Wednesday (Nov. 3) will be driving to their destination.
