ROGERS(KFSM)– Care Community Center hosted their 6th annual Thanksgiving meal Thursday (Nov. 24).
For the past six years, volunteers have started their holiday morning at 5:00 a.m. to prepare for the event. Providing a welcoming place for residents of the community to eat and enjoy their day with friends is what motivates volunteers to come out each year.
Coordinator Kimberly Porter tells 5NEWS she is thankful for each and every person that lends a hand.
“For all of our volunteers its an opportunity to step outside of their day to goings and take the opportunity to give back.”, said Porter.
Last year, Care Community served over 11,000 people and it plans to increase that number in the future. Volunteers were encouraged to bring their families out to join in on the holiday giving.
“The main thing I do here is show my daughter that some people don’t have an easy life and we should be thankful for what we have.” said volunteer Louis Yordan.
The Care Community plans to host a free Thanksgiving meal each year.
