FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- United Federal Credit Union banks in the River Valley and Home Instead Senior Care have partnered up for the ninth year to collect Christmas gifts for local seniors.

The banks have set up Christmas trees in their lobbies with ornaments that list the name of the person in need of a gift and the items on their wish list. Many are asking for sleepwear, movies or kitchen utensils.

"It feels good knowing that they will get something that they want for Christmas," said UFCU Branch Manager Mishelle Cauldwell.

Christmas trees are set up at four United Federal Credit Union locations in Fort Smith, Alma, and Van Buren.

"It's one of the most exciting parts of our staff's jobs to deliver some of those gifts to our clients," Home Instead Senior Care Owner Jonathan Fry said. "It's not just dropping them off to the front door, but it gives the opportunity to go in and sit down with them."

The last day to drop off an unwrapped gift is Dec. 15.
