FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- A few Fayetteville High School students traded in their warm beds and spent Wednesday night (Nov. 30) on the school's lawn to raise awareness for the 167 students without permanent homes in their district.

FHS Student Council members spent the night outside in makeshift housing and kept warm from a fire in a barrel. Folks were encouraged to stop by and leave donations or contribute non-perishable food items. Both the cash and food donations will be used to help the students in need in the district.

Last year, around 300 kids were living in unstable living conditions. The FHS Student Council has sponsored this event every year since the late '90s.
