ASP Investigates Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting In Pope County

POPE COUNTY (KFSM) — The Arkansas State Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Pope County that happened on Thursday (Dec. 1).

Pope County deputies were called out to investigate an armed disturbance in the Dover area on Thursday, reported KTHV. When they arrived, they found a man who was holding a gun, and he refused all orders to drop the gun.

The man moved into cover and started shooting at deputies, KTHV reported. At least one deputy returned fire, and the suspect was hit.

The man was taken to the St. Mary’s Rgional Medical Center in Russellville, where he died from his injuries.

Arkansas State Police was called in to investigate the shooting.
