GREENWOOD (KFSM) — The McConnell Funeral Home reopened after a fire damaged the building on Wednesday (Nov. 30).

The funeral home will be operating out of a temporary office at 11 N. Main St. starting on Monday (Dec. 5), according to a press release. The temporary offices are just blocks away from the burned office at 137 N. Main Street.

The fire broke out in the third floor of the building on Wednesday morning. Everyone inside the building was safely evacuated.

Workers began repairing the building on Thursday (Dec. 1).

“We are grateful that many area churches have offered to provide visitations and services for the families we serve while our main building is being repaired,” Jackie C. Davis, McConnell Funeral Home manager, said. “We are determined to reopen as soon as possible and we are committed to continue to provide excellent service to our client families.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
