BARLING (KFSM) — Barling Police are searching for suspects involved in a police chase on Monday night (Dec. 13), according to Barling investigator Ray Moore.

Police went to stop a black Chrysler 300 just after midnight when the vehicle took off down Rogers Ave. into Fort Smith. The vehicle reached up to 100 mph, traveling onto Interstate 540. The Barling Police decided to back off of the chase at the Arkansas River Bridge. The Arkansas State Police picked up the pursuit, but lost the vehicle.

The vehicle had black wheels, tinted windows and police believe that more than one person was inside. The suspects threw items out of the vehicle window, including a small handgun that was recovered by the police.

The vehicle had an Oklahoma licence plate with number 637 LQO. The plate number does return to the vehicle, so police believe it is likely a stolen plate.

If you have any information or know the whereabouts of this vehicle, please contact the River Valley Crimestoppers at 7-8-CRIME.
