FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A man who was wanted by police on a warrant for aggravated robbery faces additional charges after he injured three officers during his arrest, police say.

Emmanuel Antonio Martinez also known as “Eman Da Truth” was arrested on the warrant that was issued in July 2016, as well as on suspicion of three counts of second-degree battery,  one county of felony theft of property, and one count of misdemeanor failure to appear, obstruction of governmental operations, first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 14), police were dispatched to a home regarding a dispute involving Martinez, a police report states. When they arrived, Martinez was outside banging on the front door of the home. After police confirmed the warrant had been issued for Martinez’s arrest, they attempted to arrest him but he reportedly became belligerent.

Three officers were injured while attempting to arrest him, the report states.

Martinez allegedly struck an officer and tried to run from the scene. When two officers grabbed him, the three fell onto another officer. That officer injured his rib and felt pain consistent with a cracked rib, according to police.

One of the officers who fell injured his chin and right hand, and the other sustained abrasions.

The officers were finally able to arrest Martinez. His face was injured during the matter, according to police.

He is being held in the Sebastian County Detention Center in lieu of a $68,365  bond.
