ORLANDO (KFSM)– Former Arkansas standout Jarrion Lawson is the men’s winner of the 2016 Bowerman award. The award was given to Lawson Friday evening at the Orlando Grande Lakes Resort.

Lawson is the first Razorback to receive the Bowerman Award.

The prestigious award caps a spectacular year for the former Arkansas athlete. Lawson gained National attention after winning four NCAA titles in 2016, three of which earned at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships .

Lawson was among the best athletes in the world, competing for gold in the long jump in 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero. Lawson went on to finish fourth in the long jump competition.

Lawson beat out tough competition for the individual award. Texas A&M’s Donavan Brazier and Edward Cheserek were finalist.
