LEXINGTON(KFSM)– Arkansas got off to a good start against No.6 Kentucky in the first half of Saturday’s game. But, later in the second-half, the Hogs were not able to keep up with the Wildcats, falling 97-71 in Rupp Arena.

The Razorbacks (12-3, 1-2) went toe-to-toe with the Wildcats early on, keeping the game within reach by halftime. The Hogs were only trailing Kentucky (13-2, 3-0) by three points at the break. Kentucky came out in the second half explosive offensively, making seven of its first eight shots to build a 57-48 lead. Arkansas was unable to match their intensity, leading to the lopsided final score.

Arkansas native Malik Monk was more tame than usual in Saturday’s game. Prior to the match-up, Monk had a season average of 22.6 points. But, the freshman didn’t come near his usual, instead of finishing the game with 12-points. The night was all about Monk’s teammate De’Aaron Fox. The freshman was unstoppable on offense, with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting.

Despite the loss, the Hogs were able to have three players finish in the double figures. Daryl Macon led the way with 15 points, and Jaylen Barford was right behind him with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench.

Arkansas will return to Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday, Jan. 10. The Hogs will face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. on the SEC Network.
