WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) — A 16-year-old boy who was killed after his family’s vehicle rolled into Beaver Lake on Friday afternoon (Feb. 10) has been identified.

Clifford Collins, 16, was trapped inside his family’s vehicle when it rolled off the bluff into Beaver Lake around 2:30 p.m., according to a post from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. His body was removed by dive personnel around 5:30 p.m.

The boy’s family had pulled over to look at the view along Beaver Lake near Saddleshop Road, just off Highway 412. The vehicle, which had recently been having car trouble, started rolling and rolled off the bluff into the lake with Clifford trapped inside.

The car was fully submerged in about 30 feet of water.

Washington and Benton County dive teams and Nob Hill firefighters responded to the scene and worked to recover the teen’s body.

The boy’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab, although investigators do not believe foul play was involved.
