Police Identify Springdale Man Killed In Four-Vehicle Crash On Highway 71

SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — A Springdale man was killed and two people critically injured in a four-vehicle crash involving a loaded semi truck on Highway 71 on Friday (March 24).

Derrick Hammond, 35, who was driving a pickup truck, was killed in the accident, according to a Springdale Police Department press release.

The crash happened on Highway 71 at the Stultz Road intersection just before 8:30 a.m. on Friday. A semi truck, two SUVs and a pickup truck were involved in the accident, which blocked traffic on the road for hours, the release states.

Two females, a driver and passenger in one of the SUVS, were also critically injured in the crash, and were taken to a local hospital, the release states.

A child was one of the people who were injured, although her age has not been released, said Lt. Jeff Taylor of SPD.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
