FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Police are searching for a driver who left the scene of an accident on Friday (July 21) that killed a Prairie Grove woman who was riding a scooter.

Tara Elizabeth Pritchett, 24, was struck by an unknown vehicle about 4:38 a.m. near Persimmon Street and Salem Road,  said Sgt. Anthony Murphy.

Pritchett, who was the mother of a 4-year old son, was riding her scooter to work when the accident happened.

“She was beautiful. She was my mini-me. She was my free spirit. She was a wonderful mamma that loved her little boy.”

Pritchett was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away.

Tara’s mom Kaysie Seitz just can’t make sense of this tragedy and is now looking for answers.

“How could somebody do that to another person not just my daughter but another human being. She is very well loved and very well missed," she said.

Tara’s step-sister Ashley Fanning said when Tara came into her life it was like getting a best friend and sister in one.

“I’m going to miss her a lot but I will never stop telling her son how much of a wonderful mother he had. I’ll never let her memory die. It’s not fair, it’s not fair at all." Fanning said.

Police are still searching for the other driver and are asking for any clues that could help identify the individual.

Corporal Tiffney Lindley said they are following leads but their evidence is limited. She encourages the driver to come forward.

“Obviously it’s the right thing to do. I think they are going to feel better about it if they do come forward. It’s going to be something that hard for them to live with no matter what the circumstances were,” she said.

Anyone with information about the accident, even small details, is encouraged to contact Fayetteville police at 479-587-3555.
