BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- Friends and family members of Christy Nichols gathered in Bentonville Thursday night to ask God for her safe return.

Christy Nichols' family reported her missing to the Noel Marshal's Office on Aug. 6, but she was last seen on that day at the Catalyst Church in Bentonville.

Since then, no one has heard anything from Nichols.

A friend told 5NEWS that Christy's son, Quenton Nichols, turned 20 about two weeks after his mother disappeared.

That friend, Marla Shafer, said Christy is not the type of mother who does not wish her son a happy birthday.

Shafer and many others just want to know that Nichols is okay and safe.

They decided to go to God because Shafer said he can do what they cannot.

“We ask God in that same power that you just lead the authorities to where she is at," Shafer prayed. "That if she is somewhere on her own accord, she sees this, she knows, she feels love and she calls someone.”

Since her disappearance, Dale Nichols, Christy's ex husband and Quenton's father, explained what they have been going through.

“Frustration, aggravation, just to see my son just miserable you know wondering where his mother is at," Dale Nichols said. "You know it’s just hard to watch something like that.”

Christy's son is stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia and was unable to make it to the vigil.

His father said his son has had to reach out a few time to the chaplain stationed there during their search.

Until they know Christy is safe, Shafer said they will not stop looking, not even for a second.

The Bentonville Police Department is working with the Noel Marshal's Office in Noel, Mo., to help find Nichols.

Nichols is about 5-foot-9 and weighs roughly 145 pounds. She has auburn hair down to her shoulders and green eyes.

Nichols was last seen wearing a fitted dress — all one color — that was between burnt orange and red, with heels and jewelry.

Nichols drives a black 2008 Mazda 6 with a license plate of 542 VDU and Arkansas tags.
