WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) -- A teenage girl who was killed after her truck overturned in Washington County on Saturday (Dec. 16) has been identified at Emaly Stockton, 16,  a Sophomore from Elkins High School. The passenger in that car was Stockton's best friend, Karlee Williams who was released from the hospital Monday (Dec. 18).

Arkansas State Police (ASP) said the accident happened just before 9:30 Saturday (Dec. 16) on State Highway 16.

ASP said she over-corrected after veering off the road and lost control of her truck.  The vehicle, a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado, overturned several times.

Denise Trotter was Stockton’s AG teacher and FFA sponsor where she participated in several events. Trotter said she always had a smile on her face.

“I never saw her get down. I never saw her be anything but cheerful and glad to be here. This is one of the projects she just finished in AG mechanics class. And I was so glad to get to work with her,” she said.

Trotter said after she grades the wastebasket Stockton made she plans on giving it to her parents.

“The kids have already expressed how sad they are to have lost her and I know we are going to be dealing with that for the next several months I`m sure she`ll leave a void here in our school,” she said.

Stockton was also on the cross-country team.

Elkins High School Principal Steve Watkins said she always had a book in her hand and said this is a terrible tragedy that no one should have to deal with.

“She had a never give up attitude and always saw the best in every situation and she was in a firm believer that if you start something you should finish it,” Watkins said.

A GoFundMe page for the teen has raised more than $3,000 as of Sunday (Dec. 17) evening.
