CRAWFORD COUNTY (KFSM) -- Two suspects were taken into custody Thursday (Jan. 11) near Rudy following a pursuit that hit speeds more than 100 miles-per-hour.

Aaron Lovell and Paul Brooks were arrested in connection with several felonies.

The pursuit began after police tried to stop the suspects for speeding in Franklin County, according to Arkansas State Police. The pursuit went west into Crawford County and onto AR-282, where Lovell and Brooks abandoned the Mercedes they were in and ran from the scene.

Police purposely crashed into the Mercedes to keep the pursuit from continuing.

Those who live along  AR-282 where the maneuver crash happened in their front yard say they heard state police on a speaker telling them to stay inside their homes that it was not safe.

"One of the state troopers pulled into the yard and on the loud speaker told whoever was in the house to stay in the house. The suspects jumped and ran across here and up the hill, and they ran out of their shoes. Both pair of shoes were laying out there," Witness Bill Burkhart said.

Burkhart continued and said, "I grabbed my gun. I didn't know what else to do."

Right behind their homes in a wooded area that is where witnesses say two suspects ran into the woods and police ran after them.
