ARKOMA (KFSM) -- A local trip mall was engulfed in flames today (Wednesday, Jan. 17). Three businesses were destroyed.
The fire happened at 524 Main St. A state tag office, The Polka "Dot" Patch and ASAP Loans also occupied the building.
The cause of the fire continues to be investigated.
Employees at the business said they were able to save some important documents and items before it was too late.
The building is a total loss, firefighters said. They said the fire started in the attics of the building. The building actually has three attics.
About 30 local firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
"It was a nightmare... trying to get to the fire... we just weren`t able to do it. We tried to access it through the roof (but) we just couldn`t get to the fire before it spread out of control," Chief Jesse Little with the Arkoma Fire Department said.
