LINCOLN (KFSM) -- One person died in a house fire in Lincoln late Sunday night (Feb. 5), according to Prairie Grove Assistant Fire Chief, Jason Bromley.

Crews responded to a fire on North Starr Avenue around 9:20 p.m.

Bromley said after the fire was put out, crews had to return around 10:42 p.m. because the flames rekindled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lincoln police officer Tony Lee was injured while responding to the fire, according to Lincoln Police Chief Russell Morphis.

Lee, an 18-year veteran of the force, suffered minor injuries while making two attempts to get inside the house, Morphis said, adding that Lee's hair was burned and his jacket melted.

Morphis said he was proud of Lee's actions and that Lee "went above and beyond the call of duty."

Lee was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center, but has been released, Morphis said.

The identity of the person who died hasn't been released.
