BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- A 13-year-old boy riding a bike was hit by a car Thursday afternoon (March 1), according to Gene Page with the Bentonville Police Department.

Police said the teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The collision happened at the intersection of Southwest White Oak and Southwest Highland Roads.

Residents in the area said kids are commonly outside and this hasn't happen before.

Young resident Braden Nash said he witnessed the incident. He said, "It made me feel scared and nervous... I just don't want it to happen to anybody else."

His father Dontai Nash is the neighbor's Property Owners Association president and said, "This is the first time I've ever heard of and accident happening like this since I've lived in the residence, but its a very safe neighborhood and I think and I have faith that's its going to continue to be a great and safe neighborhood. It was just a mistake and an accident.

Those in the neighbord also said they plan to get together and find ways to curtail this from happening again.
