MADISON COUNTY (KFSM) -- A suspect believed to be armed and dangerous turned himself into the Crawford County Sheriff's Office Wednesday (April 25), according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

Teral Garett, 59, was being held Thursday (April 26) at the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond and a hold for Madison County Circuit Court.

The search began when officers with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and Huntsville Police Department responded to an address off Highway 74 East in reference to a man pointing a shotgun at a neighbor around 5 p.m. on Sunday (April 22).

Deputies say Garrett fled into a wooded area once officers arrived.

A K-9 team was deployed but unable to locate Garrett.

Officers told the neighbor to leave the area for his safety. When he returned home Monday morning, he found Garrett's cabin on the property on fire with no one inside.

According to deputies, Garrett is facing felony charges of aggravated assault, first-degree terroristic threatening and possession of firearms by certain persons.

Deputies said Garrett has a violent history. He was sentenced in April 1997 to 30 years in prison for second-degree murder, according to Franklin County Circuit Court records.
