BENTONVILLE (KFSM) -- Crews were on the scene of a fire at A Taste of Thai II in Bentonville Monday night (April 30).

Dispatchers said the call came in about 8 p.m. at the restaurant located on  S. Walton Boulevard.

Crews on scene said the fire started in the back of the building, and everyone was able to evacuate safely.

Officials said the building was not destroyed, but was heavily damaged.

Northbound traffic on Walton Boulevard was down to one lane as crews were on the scene. Southbound drivers were also diverted to SW 20th.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials believe it started in a storage area in the back of the restaurant that was not connected to the kitchen.

The Bentonville fire marshal said the building is structurally sound, except for the area about where the fire started.

The other businesses that share the building with the restaurant will have to remain closed until an electrician can evaluate and restore electricity to the building, the fire marshal said.
