ROGERS (KFSM) -- Rogers police are investigating a homicide, according to Keith Foster with the Rogers Police Department.

Foster said police responded to the 1300 block of Centennial Drive Saturday (May 5) at about 9:50 a.m. for a death investigation.

Misha Rivera, 48, was found dead in the living room of the home. Foster said that evidence indicated the death was not accidental.

The investigation shows that the suspect was known by the victim, and police do not believe there is a danger to the public.

In a tweet published Tuesday (May 8), the NWA Women's Shelter mourned the loss of Rivera, who it said was an employee in the shelter's thrift shop.

The shelter released this official statement:

"All of us at Northwest Arkansas Women's Shelter are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and coworker, Misha Rivera. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this most difficult time. Misha was an employee at our Thrift Store for over a year, was well-liked by her colleagues, and was a passionate advocate to support those who are affected by domestic violence. Counseling has been made available for our employees, volunteers, and clients. We will do everything we can to support the local authorities investigating of the situation."

NWA Women’s Shelter Board President, Angelique O'Bryan said Rivera never shared any concerns with co-workers that she was in a domestic violence situation.

“We don't necessarily know that was something that was going on, it's possible this was the first instance, but even if it wasn't being affected by domestic violence is a very personal thing and not everyone shares those details with everyone in their life,” she said.
