CENTERTON (KFSM) -- Centerton Police Chief Cody Harper was fired during an emergency city council meeting Tuesday night , according to city attorney Brian Rabal.
Harper was placed on administrative leave earlier this month while the department underwent an investigation and audit, Rabal said. Captain Kristopher Arthur was also fired.
The investigation -- initially carried out by the Benton County Sheriff's Office -- sought to determine whether there was criminal conduct, ethical violations or if the department violated internal policy. It's not clear exactly what led to the firing of the officers.
We reached out to both officers today for comment. Arthur responded and said he did not want to comment at this time.
Mayor Edwards along with Lt. Anthony Keck are now leading the department as of Wednesday (May 16).
