WEST FORK (KFSM) -- The West Fork Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office are investigating a death involving a West Fork couple.
According to the West Fork Police, the department was notified of a suicide of Lawrence Bruick, 56, that happened in off of Highway 309 south of Paris in Logan County, southeast of Washington County, on Sunday (June 10). The police were asked to notify the man's wife regarding the suicide.
Police said they went to the home in the 800 block of James Place in West Fork to inform Lori Bruick, 55, of her husband's death, but no one answered, which at first did not raise any red flags, they said.
They went back on Monday to try again, and once again, there was no answer.
"We went back yesterday and knocked on the door, no answer, and that's when we started looking into windows and started suspecting she might still be at home," said Tyler Underwood with the West Fork Police Department. "So that's when we made entry to do a welfare concern on her."
During that check, police said, they found the body Lori Bruick. The discovery prompted an investigation in conjunction with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said they are looking over evidence collected from the Bruicks' home and waiting for an autopsy report on Lori Bruick, since it is not clear how she died.
Police said it is not clear if the two deaths are connected at this point in the investigation.
