LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) -- A section of Highway 59 between Howe and Heavener closed on Thursday afternoon (June 14) after an accident killed two people.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash involved a blue pickup and a white work truck.
Both drivers were killed -- Don Mayes of Gore, Oklahoma, and Walter Fanning of Miami, Oklahoma. There were no passengers, Highway Patrol said.
OHP said the crash happened about half-a-mile north of Heavener.
Troopers said Mayes was heading south on Highway 59 when his truck veered out of his lane and hit Fanning's truck head on.
Both lanes were closed as crews worked the accident.
