WINSLOW (KFSM) - The southbound and northbound lanes of I-49 near Winslow have reopened following a tractor-trailer fire that was emitting hazardous chemicals on Wednesday (July 25) afternoon.

The cab of the tractor-trailer caught fire, and then spread to the back of the box trailer carrying hazardous chemicals.

Chemicals being transported were some sort of weed killing substance, says Danny Strassel with the Arkansas Department of Transportation.

Crews with the Fayetteville FD have put out the fire, and are working to contain any chemicals that may have leaked.

The driver is safe, no injuries have been reported from the accident.
