SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- A domestic disturbance call led to a fatal officer-involved shooting in Sonora, east of Springdale, late Thursday (July 26) night.

According to Washington County spokeswoman Kelly Cantrell, deputies from the county and Springdale police responded to a call about 11:16 p.m. of a domestic disturbance at 20411 Sonora Acres.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a male suspect who was armed, Cantrell said. The officers identified themselves and ordered the man to put down his weapon.

The individual refused the order by officers, and began to advance towards them. An officer with the Springdale Police Department fired at the male, hitting him, according to Springdale Police Lt. Jeff Taylor.

The suspect was taken to Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, where he was pronounced dead. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The shooting victims name is Iman Joseph Buford, according to close friends of his at the hospital.
