LEFLORE COUNTY, OK (KFSM) -- The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations have confirmed that they currently have an open investigation into former LeFlore County Undersheriff Kendall Morgan.

Morgan resigned from the LeFlore County Sheriff's Department back in July citing personal reasons, according to the Leflore County Sheriff Rob Seale.

According to an investigator with the OSBI, the investigation into Morgan is for several applications using excessive force along with other incidents.

The agent would not elaborate on "other incidents".

The investigation is still underway and has not been turned over to the county prosecutor at this point.

Leflore County Sheriff Rob Seale said complaints of Morgan using excessive force on people under arrest started coming into the department and he started an investigation.

" If it would have been a single incident that somebody talked about I wouldn't have been that concerned about it because people get angry when they go to jail," Seale said. "It's information I believe is truthful and substantiated through other sources. So at that point, I felt I had enough where I had another agency investigate it."

Seale said at that time he turned the findings over to the OSBI.

In addition to the OSBI investigation, Seale said the department is currently doing their own internal investigation over allegations of other complaints and misconduct concerning Morgan.

Morgan has not been charged with a crime and has yet to be interviewed by the OSBI at this time.

"If anybody thinks this was an easy thing for me to do- they are sadly mistaken. It's not easy to lose your second in command when he resigns but it is even harder to open an investigation on that person," Seale said.

5NEWS tried reaching out to Morgan Friday (Aug. 24) by phone, he would not comment on the investigation but did say he is seeking legal representation.

This is a developing story.
