FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- A water main break forced the closure of 7th Street between S. Church and S. Locust Avenues on Sunday (Sep. 2), according to Fayetteville police.

Water started to flood the area around 5 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 2).

Crews at the scene tell 5NEWS there could be several reasons for the water line break -- weather, old pipes ... and as of now they are still working on repairs and to figure out why it happened.

The water line break was patched up on Monday (Sep. 3), according to a homeowner who lives nearby.

The homeowner told 5NEWS no water damage has been spotted to their home at this time.
