Colorado State Rallies Past Razorbacks 34-27

Hogs let 27-9 lead slip away

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (KFSM) — It was a game that most thought would be a crucial one when it came to qualifying for a bowl game. Then most thought it would be an easy win based on the first two weeks of the season.

Arkansas was in control of Colorado State  as they led by 18 points midway through the third quarter but the Rams rallied with 25 straight points, including the game winning score with nine seconds left, as they stunned the Razorbacks with a 34-27 win.

The Razorbacks had a 27-9 lead and also had possession inside the CSU 30 after a big punt return in the third quarter but the Arkansas offense was shut down from that point.

Colorado State threw for 389 yards, most of which came in the final 20 minutes of the game to rally for the win as they outscored the Razorbacks 17-0 in the fourth quarter.

Arkansas ran for 299 yards, including a career high 165 from Devwah Whaley, but the passing game cost the Hogs the chance to put the game away. Ty Storey went just 5-of-13 for 36 yards with two interceptions in the first half. Cole Kelley played the entire second half and his numbers looked significantly better thanks to a 64-yard shovel pass to TJ Hammonds. Kelley was 5-of-8 for 38 yards and a touchdown outside that shovel pass.

K.J. Carta-Samuels was 32-of-47 for 389 yards, including a stretch of 14 straight completions in the second half.

North Texas visits Arkansas on Sept. 15.
