KNOXVILLE (KFSM) — Johnson County Sheriff's Office authorities are looking for a possible murder suspect after a man was found dead in a ditch near an intersection in Knoxville, Arkansas.

Sheriff Larry Jones said Monday (Sept. 24) deputies and the coroner were on the scene where a body was found just off Highway 64.

Eyewitnesses said the body was seen lying under a tree next to a house on Ash Street. Deputies erected a barrier to hide the body from view while they investigated.

Sheriff Jones says they were given a tip by someone passing by who saw the body.

The sheriff's office is not releasing the name of the victim or how they died at this time, but Jones confirmed to 5NEWS that foul play was suspected in the death.

There is one disturbance on Sunday (Sep. 23) evening deputies are investigating in relation to the man's death.

Police are still working to figure out if the body was killed outside of the home on Ash Street, or if the body was dumped there.

"These people were at work last night. People who live here confirmed that it was not here at the residence."

Clarksville police said the body found Monday was "100 percent not connected" to a body found Friday (Sept. 21) in Lake Ludwig.
