The coldest air of the season continues to filter in and will continue to trend colder heading into Friday and Saturday.

Freeze Warnings are in effect for NW Arkansas for tonight and area-wide for Friday night.

Saturday morning’s lows are expected to fall into the upper teens in NW Arkansas and the 20s across the Greater Fort Smith area.

This is a look at Saturday morning’s low temperatures. These lows will come close to records across the area. The record low for Fayetteville is 12º, in Fort Smith it’s 22º both were set back in 1950. Lows on Saturday morning should be in the 18º-25º range respectively.

This will be the first hard freeze of the year and will mark the end of the growing season for most of the area.

Temperatures are expected to warm in the afternoon over the weekend but will still be well below normal and likely in the 40s. On the brightside, we’ll see mostly sunny skies for this weekend and most of next week.
