FORT SMITH (KFSM) — UPDATE: 17-year-old suspect Jerry Garcia has been identified as the shooter in the Tuesday (Dec. 18) shooting.

Fort Smith Police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that occurred Tuesday (Dec. 18) night.

UPDATE: Arrests Made In Connection With Shootings In Fort Smith That Injured Multiple People

After talking with witnesses, investigators went to a residence on North H Street where a 17-year-old suspect was believed to be inside.

After setting a perimeter around the home and talking with family members, the suspect came out of the house peacefully.

During the arrest, 19-year-old Enrique Rodriguez was arrested for obstructing governmental operations.

The 17-year-old suspect has requested an attorney and faces multiple charges; one count of first-degree battery, two counts second-degree battery, and possession with purpose to deliver, marijuana was found inside the home during a search, according to Fort Smith Police

According to Aric Mitchell with the Fort Smith Police Department, at least three people were shot at the 2300 block of North 32nd Street Tuesday night. Mitchell said two of the victims were struck in the ankle and the other was hit in the femur.

Multiple witnesses were taken to the police department to be interviewed, but there is no word yet on what happened leading up to shots being fired.
