Rogers Police Respond To Reports of Person Barricaded In Home

ROGERS, Ark.—Police responded to reports of a person barricaded inside of a home near Rogers High School this afternoon (Jan. 26).

Police report that a person had barricaded themselves inside of a home on Morter Place at around 2 p.m.

According to police, officers and SWAT members were outside of the home.

Phyllis Hancock lived nearby for over thirteen years and said that nothing like this had happened in the area before. Knowing so little had left her shaken, she said.

"It's very scary in your neighborhood when you can't get in and out and you don't know what's going on. It could have been anything, you know. It could have been a hostage situation or something like that," Hancock said.

She began to receive phone calls about what was going on after being told by an officer to go back inside.

"I walked out into the street and a policeman came up here and told me to get back inside. So I did as he said and people started calling like crazy and I was looking out the window and everything," she said. "There was police everywhere with rifles pulled. Very scary."

Around 2:30 p.m. the standoff ended according to officers.
