One Dead In Springdale Fire

SPRINGDALE, Ark.— One person died in a Springdale fire this morning (Feb. 2).

Springdale police officers state that the residential fire took place on Hudson Street near J.B. Hunt Park around 2 a.m.

An elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene and family members were transported to the hospital according to a report.

No other information has been made public at this time.

Matt Bagley, Springdale Fire Inspector and Captain, said one neighbor was staying with the family through the evening of the fire.

"Really took that good neighbor phrase and took it to the next level," said Bagley. "They stayed out with them all night long never left them alone made sure they were warm and made sure they were fed if they needed it... Just really took care of them. Really happy to see things like that in our community. It’s one of those things we still have in our community we can be really thankful for.”

Bagley said the cause and origin of the fire remains unknown at this time.
